#ElevateTheSeason Like a Boss with Bulletproof Coffee

Butter coffee. Butter IN my coffee. That’s right. I’m sitting here, drinking my morning Bulletproof coffee, which has BUTTER in it, browsing through the onslaught of LAST CHANCE TO SCORE A DEAL ON CHRISTMAS PYJAMAS THAT ARE ALREADY SOLD OUT emails and dabbling in a little online holiday shopping.

Not because I don’t have a bajillion things to do, but because I don’t feel particularly overwhelmed.

Taking the stress out of the holidays with Bulletproof Coffee. Also, I show you how to make it two ways so you can enjoy it with no fuss. #ElevateTheSeason

Have you tried it? It’s very liberating. No, not the online shopping, the Bulletproof coffee. In case you missed it, butter coffee has become a bit of a thing. If you’re wondering what in the Christmas balls I’m talking about, well, I’ll tell you.

I have made no bones about how supremely stressful the last several months have been. Yes, there’s light at the end of the tunnel, but up until now I have struggled with late nights, very little sleep and running on empty. It was around this time that I began hearing the Bulletproof buzz.

This life-changing coffee (which, as it turns out is just the vessel for the quality fats) provides mental and physical energy, powers your day by supporting cognitive function and keeps you satisfied and free from food cravings. Oh, really? Curious, I decided to give it a try.

Here’s What I’m Not Going to Tell You

I’m not going to tell you how Bulletproof entered my life and suddenly I was getting 8-10 hours of sleep every night.

I won’t say that my days since pouring that first cup of butter coffee (seriously — butter in the coffee AND Brain Octane oil) have flowed seamlessly from one to the next with nary a raised voice.

I’m not going to spout how Bulletproof was a magical fix to all my first world problems. Because, in case you missed in, I do still have four kids who do not drink butter coffee and the power struggle is real.

Here’s What I Will Tell You

What I will say is the taste of blending grass-fed butter and Bulletproof’s Brain Octane oil in my coffee is surprisingly rich and flavourful.

I can confirm that Brain Octane oil in my morning smoothie was a happy accident (you’ll have to watch the video below for the full story).

Despite my late nights (light…tunnel) I can tell you that morning cup of Bulletproof is noticeably helping to power me through my days.

Those late-night food cravings have subsided.

I confess I’ve had to look for other reasons than ‘a coffee run’ to go out for my afternoon walk since I don’t feel the need anymore to grab a second (or third) cuppa joe. Thought I’d miss the coffee, but I don’t.

It’s true. Oh, I still have the occasional extra coffee, or a decaf or a tea. But I don’t miss it which is SO WEIRD. But true.

Finally, I will tell you that, like anything in life, Bulletproof is not a quick-fix for your health and weight problems. I still do my morning workout and go out for a daily walk or run (these are my sanity breaks). I try to find a few minutes for mindfulness and meditation. And I’m more aware of being present when my kids are being demanding of my time.

Bulletproof has simply merged effortlessly into my new morning routine and is helping me recalibrate my goals with an eye towards better self-care.

But, Erica, How Does It Work?

Let me break it down for you in my best #sciencenotscience speak. There’s good coffee and there’s bad coffee. You know the way a really good cup of coffee coats your taste buds as you involuntarily close your eyes and go, “Mmmmm…”? That is the good coffee. That is the antioxidant-laden stuff that promotes brain function, memory and energy levels. That is the stuff of the diner scene in When Harry Met Sally.

The bad coffee — the cheap, bitter-tasting swill — is almost always contaminated with damaged or moldy beans. Ewwww. And guess what else? Decaf coffee is even worse because caffeine is actually nature’s defense against mold and other organisms growing on the beans! Removing the caffeine exposes the beans to contamination. Whoa.

It is no surprise, then, that the folks at Bulletproof have developed a method of optimizing every step of the coffee production process in order to deliver the very best in flavour and performance — even for their decaf variety. But that’s not all.

Holy, Fat!

Just when you think you’ve got this whole fitness and nutrition thing figured out — *cough* avocado toast *cough* — suddenly someone’s telling you to put butter and oil in your coffee. What in the name of Kris Kringle does this even mean? Butter coffee? Have people lost their tinsel-loving minds?

Why grass-fed butter or ghee? Because it tastes delightfully rich and creamy. Not to mention, this healthy fat actually optimizes cholesterol levels and blood chemistry. Huh.

And what the heck is Brain Octane Oil? Extracted from the heart of the coconut (and, no, it is not the same as adding coconut oil to your coffee, so please don’t do that) brain octane is considered one of the healthiest fats. The body’s ability to convert Brain Octane quickly into energy means it is easily processed as brain fuel, giving you that mental boost. Pa-pow!

But what if I don’t drink coffee? Add Brain Octane to food or to your Bulletproof hot chocolate or tea; one might even suggest a smoothie. The Brain Octane will leave you feeling satiated which helps curb cravings and promote weight loss. This healthy oil also supports efficient nutrient absorption, balanced blood chemistry and a strong immune system. Bam!

How to Bulletproof Your Day Like a Boss

While I am a recent first-time customer, the team at Bulletproof Nutrition clearly noticed how stressed and tired I looked and how very much I could benefit from more Bulletproof coffee in my life. So to help power me through the holidays, they have very kindly sponsored this post as part of the #ElevateTheSeason campaign. All opinions and lip-smacking sounds are purely mine. When it comes to coffee, I don’t mess around.
