Ok, friends, I’ve been wanting to share with you about Mail Order Mystery FOR MONTHS. But, life. So I figured, what better time than now; especially if you’re looking for a last-minute gift idea that will last long after the last of the wrapping paper has been torn to shreds.
What exactly is Mail Order Mystery?
With the popularity of subscription boxes soaring, Mail Order Mystery offers a bit of a different twist. This Canadian company sends out a series of six mail-outs over a six-week period that turn your children into super sleuths. Each envelope brings its own “perplexing puzzles, curious clues, twisting plots, adventure and intrigue.” All brain power, no screens. That’s a parenting win, right there, folks.
The plot thickens with each new delivery. Kids are prompted to work together to decipher codes in order to solve the mystery. You’ll see wonderful skills emerge from your kids: teamwork, imagination and resourcefulness. It is refreshing to see how eagerly they await each new letter. Their faces absolutely light up with anticipation at the sight of each envelope addressed to them. Seriously. They were stoked.
Each mailing is carefully crafted to create intrigue and excitement with wording that is silly, fun and engaging. Spoiler alert: the final instalment is a treasure trove of fun!
How many Mail Order Mysteries are there?
There are currently three mysteries available which are ideal for kids aged 7-12: Treasure Hunt, The Enchanted Slumber and Spies, Lies and Serious Bad Guys. Our kids had the opportunity to solve both the Treasure Hunt: a swashbuckling adventure on the high seas; and Spies, Lies and Serious Bad Guys: secret agents track an enigmatic bad guy.
Moms and dads, you may get called in on the action, as little ones might need a little help uncovering clues. Or, in the case of the “Spies” mystery, a special clue was provided via a telephone call which we monitored.
How do you order a Mail Order Mystery?
Well, since it is Christmas Eve, be sure to check the information on holiday ship dates. The folks at Mail Order Mystery have you covered, though, with two different gift notes you can download and wrap up to place under the tree. It’ll give your kids something fun to look forward to after they’ve gone back to school after the winter break.
The envelopes are mailed one per week for six weeks but you can customize your delivery options with a quick email to the Mail Order Mystery team. You can choose to have the six mailings sent at one time so that you can control the arrivals — this is great for a spring break activity when you need to keep kids occupied for a week. (Just “sneak” the envelope in with the regular mail — my kids didn’t notice at all.)
Are you ready to choose your adventure? Order your mystery today and let the intrigue unfold.
Disclosure: Mail Order Mystery generously sent us two mysteries which our kids thoroughly enjoyed. It is my pleasure to share our experience with you.
