Fall in Canada means crisp walks outdoors, lot of falling leaves and questions like these. Of course, when my son asked me if this was a Toronto Maple Leaf I said, Yes! These are the moments you want to remember: the sweet, innocent and funny things kids say. http://diaryofadomesticdiva.com

Mommy, is that a Toronto Maple Leaf?

The things kids say, right? My seven-year old never fails to make me laugh with some of the things that come out of his mouth. I will often catch my husband’s eye across the dinner table and we will share a knowing look and then burst into laughter with whatever #Xavierism has just been spouted.

Of course, when my son asked me if this was a Toronto Maple Leaf I said, Yes!

One morning last week, on our walk to the bus stop, X-man stops and points to the ground, littered with fallen, brightly-coloured leaves and asks, all innocent-like: “Mommy, is that a Toronto Maple Leaf?”

I chuckled, of course, and then answered with an emphatic, “Yes. Yes, it is.” Because, close enough.

“Why is it called a Toronto Maple Leaf?” he questioned.

And then, though I didn’t really want to, I gently explained the difference between the maple leaf and the hockey player.

“Oh.”

I need to begin keeping better track of these quotes because they are so special to me and someday, I hope they’ll be as meaningful to my son.
